Banned From The Bible

In Search Of Truth
Most of us grew up with a Bible in our homes, or at least a Book of our chosen religious beliefs. Most of us also grew up believing every word of what our parents, teachers, 'men of God', or the Book taught us about the creation of the world, all it's people, and how we must believe and live to be blessed with eternal life...even the proper way to worship...and what Holy Days would be observed.
There are many religions. All believe differently. And all are based on what information there was available in each region of the world from which a particular religion evolved.
For many years now there have been people saying that the King James Bible is missing very important information, that if included, could actually alter the history of the Christian Faith, and perhaps even challenge many currently held beliefs of Christian people.
I've never met a person who actually studies the Bible who hasn't had some unanswered questions regarding people and events recorded there.
I ran across videos from the History Channel of a series of shows, where they actually researched the supposed 'Banned Books of the Bible' and found it very thought provoking.
Not to cause more religious debate, nor an attempt to convert anyone else from their personal beliefs, because I consider every person's personal beliefs to be sacred and to be honored by those who believe differently, but presented here just to share....for personal viewing by others who will then take from it what they choose and simply leave the rest.
Lifelong learning and seeking knowledge is something I do believe in very much,

Description of the Videos
Although I found a complete recording of the Banned From the Bible I, aired on the History Channel, available at VideoGoogle, I could only find the complete series of Banned From the Bible Part II at You Tube in 12 parts.
The description of The History Channel's Banned From The Bible I from YouTube:
"For many of the faithful, the idea smacks of heresy. But the Bible we know is just one of many versions that surely circulated in the early days of Christianity. Even fully-fledged books were left out of the "final draft."
In this single collection, THE HISTORY CHANNEL® has gathered a definitive survey of these "extracanonical" texts. Learn of their creation alongside - or even before - the more accepted books of the Bible we know today. Discover their messages and what we can conclude about the early Church from their exclusion. And see the lengths to which ancient editors went to hide them and to which modern scholars have gone to uncover them."
And from YouTube, a description of Banned From The Bible II:
"What was left out can teach us much about what remains.
BANNED FROM THE BIBLE travels back to the blistering sands of the Holy Land, into the onion-domed chapels of Eastern Orthodox churches and the pages of the Koran on the trail of the chapters that were left out of the ultimate version of the Scriptures. In the first installment of this groundbreaking special presentation, BANNED FROM THE BIBLE pored over eight extracanonical texts to discover the foundation of the early Christian Bible and the intent of its creators.
As the series continues in this fascinating DVD, still more of these revealing omissions are brought to light. With the guidance of renowned scholars such as Kenneth Hanson, author of The Lost Gospels and Rabbi David Copeland, discover the Testament of Solomon, the legend of Lilith, the story of Aseneth, the complete saga of Daniel and gain insight into the Apocrypha, the so-called "hidden writings."
BANNED FROM THE BIBLE PART 2 vastly expands our grasp of one of the most important texts in human history. Understanding what was left out of the earliest Bible gives us critical tools for analyzing the Scriptures as they have reached us today"

I read your article on banned from the bible. Very thorough execution on your thoughts.
Can you tell me what religions banned the the bible in parts please?
I could not agree with your comment, "Lifelong learning and seeking knowledge is something I do believe in very much" more.
I just wanted to compliment you on the way you so gently presented this information, for knowledge, and how you so eloquently said everyone of all beliefs deserve respect. You are a good hearted person, and it shows through in your writing.
Religion is a complex topic. Some get agitated when we mention God. Religion has no rational and sometimes makes no sense. Its just there and we have to sqeeze an inspiration from it from time to time.
Very interesting hub. I am always interested in open dialog, and you are talking about something I know a little about. The statement of books left out of the bible is misleading. The books that you, and the History Channel, is referring to, such as the 'Apocrypha', the 'Didachi' and, the collection found in the 'Nag Hammadi Library' and others, was circulating even while the Apostles yet lived. It was them, the Aposles themselves, who, for the most part, condemned the extracanonical writings. Though some of them were used throughout the Churches prior to the compiling of the Bible as we know it today. Without getting too theological, no books were left out, but, there were books that wasn't included. I have a copy of the 'Apocrypha', the Didache and, the Nag Hammadi Library, as well as other writings. I have not found in any of these books and writings, anything that would cause me to believe something in them was excluded from the final compilation of the Bible that could lead, or have led to the detriment of the Bible message. But that's just my opinion. I do commend you for taking the position not to judge others for their belief. I too share that position.
Check out the movie "The Pharmacratic Inquisition" on http://video.google.com the best movie about Christinity and religion in general yet.
Fascinating videos.
I love it. You love the History Channel. Tell me what you think about my hub. You can reach me at Brother Dave's Sermon2. I really appreciate your comments.
You are delving into murky warters. All organized religions exist mainly for the same purpose, control over large populations. It's one of the most important reasons why the seperation of church and state is so important.
Another good Hub. Keep it up.
Very useful. I will definitely be looking into this more.
If you haven't read "Misquoting Jesus-the Story Behind Who Changed the Bible and Why" by Bart D. Ehrman, it will shed some light on how our current bible came into its final form. I also have read the book "Lost Scriptures" by the same author that includes many of the lost books the History Channel referred to in these programs.
Thank you for this informatiive hub. I am glad that I looked it up first before writing the same article as you did. More people should get educated into what the Bible really is about?
Banned From The Bible Part 1
This is a good idea
I just watched the movie from the History Channel, Angels Good Or Evil. Very informative. In that they said that Lilith cursed Adam and Eve's children and it was not Satan or the Devil, but her because Adam ditched because he wanted to power over her and not be equal with her--which God had made her equal to him in the first place. She went and sided with some other nasty Angel after that. Anyway the people whose children had dies the death was blamed on Lilith.
I also just watched another History Channel movie, The History of God and it was very interesting.
Wow quite a hub. I just know what to believe anymore.
the lost books of the bible
Christmas 2010 and the History Channel is airing the Banned from the Bible series? Anyone have any idea why? I am watching it right now and the series seems to be doing a fair job of discrediting the bible and Christianity.
Has the bible and Christianity ran its course here in America deeming it no longer necessary by the powers-to-be?
Why would the government controlled media such as the History Channel discredit Christianity on Christmas day?
READ THE HOLY QUR'AN IT'S THE LAST AND FINAL REVELATION FROM ALMIGHTY GOD .
I WAS PREVIOUSLY A CHRISTIAN, BUT ALMIGHTY GOD GUIDED ME TO THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH ISLAM.
The Holy Qur'an is the Last Testament, the last word of Almighty GOD revealed to the Last Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, through the Angel Gabriel. The Holy Qur'an deals with the whole of human life including the basic beliefs of Islam, morality, worship, knowledge, wisdom, GOD- and -man relationship that has been preserved not only by tabulation but by memorization by Millions of Muslims, unlike the books of the Bible and is given to the Last and Final Prophet of Almighty GOD Muhammad (Peace and Blessings Be Upon Him). In some of the verses of the Bible that are somewhat still intact, Muhammad is prophesied by Moses in Deuteronomy 18:15 and 18:18, by Jesus in John 14:16, John 15:26, and John 16:7, in Isaiah 29:12, Song of Solomon 5:16 and other Chapters and Verse in The Old and New Testament.
Islam tells us that GOD, Who created the whole of universe, is One. His personal name is ALLAH. Nothing else can be called ALLAH. The word “ALLAH” is the combination of two Arabic words “AL Ilâh” which means “The GOD”; it is the proper name of the only Supreme Being Who exists necessarily by Himself. This word comprises all the attributes of perfection. This word is neither feminine and has no gender nor can it be made plural and has never been applied to any other being. This word has no corresponding word in English or in any other language of the world. ALLAH is the One and Only True GOD’s personal name. Nothing or no one else can be called ALLAH. This shows its uniqueness as compared to the term "god", which can be made plural, gods or feminine, goddess and even can be referred to a person as godfather or godmother or to something or someone as being godly. It is interesting that ALLAH is also used for GOD in Aramaic, the language Jesus (Peace and Blessings be upon him) spoke, and Bibles that are written in Arabic ALLAH is used instead of GOD.
ALLAH is the Almighty, Creator and Sustainer of the universe, Who is similar to nothing and nothing is comparable to Him. He depends on none but everything else, which exists, depends on Him; neither has He begotten any child nor is He Himself the child of anyone. There is no one else that can be said to be parallel or equal to Him. He is the First, and He is the Last. He is the ultimate goal of all that exists in this universe.
ALLAH Almighty GOD says:
1 Say [O Muhammad (Peace and Blessings be upon him)]: "He is Allah, (The) One and Only!
2 “Allah-us-Samad (The Self-Sufficient Master; Eternally Besought of all! Whom all creatures need, He neither eats nor drinks).
3 "He begets not, nor was He begotten;
4 "And there is none comparable or like unto Him."
Surah “Chapter” 112 Al-'Ikhl?? (The Sincerity)
"O mankind! Worship your Lord,
Who created you from a single person (Adam), and from him (Adam) He created his wife [Hawwa (Eve)], and from them both He created many men and women and fear Allah through Whom you demand your mutual (rights), and (do not cut the relations of) the wombs (kinship). Surely, Allah is Ever an All-Watcher over you."
[Surah "Chapter" an-Nisaa 4:1]
O Mankind! Keep your duty to your Lord, and fear a Day when no father will stand for his
son, nor a child will stand for his father. Verily, the promise of Allah
is true: let not then this present worldly life deceive you, nor let
the chief Deceiver (satan) deceive you about Allah.
Surah "Chapter" 31 Luqman, Verse: 33
O Mankind! Call to mind the grace of Allah upon
you! Is there a creator, other than Allah, to give you sustenance from Heaven or Earth? There is no god but He: how then are you deluded away from the Truth?
Surah "Chapter" 35 Fatir, Verse: 3
The Holy Qur’an
I see many people taking to heart what the enemies of the faith claim to be fact. There are many great theologians that have dealt with all of these issues. Do some research, one great tool is the Christian research institute. All other religions are based on people elevating themselves whether thru works or achieving some higher level of enlightenment. Christianity is based on the realization that one cannot achieve anything on one's own. That we are all sinners and only by the grace of God can we be saved from death (spiritual) thru faith in Jesus Christ as our Savior, that he died physically and for a time suffered spiritual separation from God on the cross and so paid the price for our sins and then rose from his tomb and ascended into heaven (defeating death) Grace alone, thru faith in Christ as demonstrated by the works produced by the holy spirit that dwells within all who repent in the name of Jesus Christ.
p.s. the apostle Paul was martyred for his belief in Christ, he was crucified by the Romans, believing himself to be unworthy to be crucified in the same manner as Jesus he requested to be crucified upside down. Who would choose to die in such a horrific way for a lie?
I enjoyed the reading! I have been studying the bible all my life having been brought up in a very religious home but can see there are many unanswered queations.
The trueth aspect of ALLAH(God),the prophets and creation has been left out from the Bible..The decieving ideas was added just to make it look interesting like a movie.
To C:
p.s. the apostle Paul was martyred for his belief in Christ, he was crucified by the Romans, believing himself to be unworthy to be crucified in the same manner as Jesus he requested to be crucified upside down. Who would choose to die in such a horrific way for a lie?
Sorry but Paul was not crucified upsidedown. If (and I do mean if) any appostle was crucified upsidedown, it was Peter. Even that is supported by writings that were long after the incident (2-3 hundred years later). See the link below for more information...
